FTP files to Hosting Account/ Webspace

*If you are using Microsoft Front Page you should not use the method described below. You should use the FP built in publishing tool and make sure you have Front Page extensions turned on in cpanel.

FTP'ing is the process of moving files around. If you have developed a web site on your local computer at some point you have to get those files to the server or from the server to your computer.

If you are using FTP then you do not need Microsoft Extensions installed at your site. Microsoft Extensions can be turned on or off in your cPanel.

All of your web site files will be stored in a folder at your web space called public_html also known as root. The home page of your web site should be called index.

There are many programs that can be used to transfer files across to your web space. Some are Free.

Dreamweaver by macromedia has capability to FTP your files to your webnspace and is simple to setup.
